Description
The Pug is a small, cobby dog with a distinctive square build, large round head, and deep facial wrinkles. They are famous for their human-like expressions and curly 'corkscrew' tails.
Key Features
Flat brachycephalic face, large protruding eyes, rose or button-style ears, deep wrinkles on the forehead, and a tightly curled tail.
Coat Type
Short, smooth, and glossy. Double-coated despite the short length; sheds significantly year-round with heavy seasonal sheds.
Coat Colors
Fawn (with black mask) or Black (shown in image). Black Pugs are solid black. Fawn can range from apricot to silver.
Temperament
Even-tempered, charming, mischievous, and loving. Known as the 'clowns of the dog world.' Generally very social and affectionate but can be sensitive.
Good with Children
Excellent. They are sturdy for their size and generally patient and playful with children of all ages.

Grooming Needs

History & Origin
Originating in China, Pugs were imperial favorites. They were brought to Europe by the Dutch East India Company in the late 1500s and became the official dog of the House of Orange.
Interesting Facts
A Pug named Pompey allegedly saved the life of William the Silent, Prince of Orange, by barking to warn him of assassins. They are often described by the Latin phrase 'multum in parvo' (a lot in a little).
